Contentment, thy name is Caden!

When we went to the pediatrician on Day 4 (my ped doesn't go to the hospital that I delivered at. I was surprised to find such a distinction between the two hospital systems out here. It's different than it was in Utah. My insurance lets me go to either hospital, but the doctors only go to one or the other. Kind of weird.) Caden's weight was down 9 1/2 percent. He went from 9lbs 1.4oz (Jess was 9lbs2oz) to 8lbs 3oz (which is what I was at birth. Funny, huh). My milk had just come in that morning, and Caden had spent a very fussy afternoon, evening and night previous to our appointment because he was just so hungry. My ped said that I should be fine, but if he seemed hungry still that I could supplement, and that I needed to come back for a weight check in a couple of days.

Anxious new mom that I am, I closely charted and followed every diaper and feeding, monitoring for any signs of hunger or inadequate supply to Caden. Well, let's just say, that pretty much since the moment I got home from that appt, all this kid does is eat and sleep. I know that's what newborns do, but sometimes I think he's forgotten how to open his eyes. Bottom line is, he's doing fabulous and my mom and I are putting in wagers for how much he's gained over the past couple of days, since his appt is tomorrow.

I love your posts!! Keep em coming! Since, I can't see him until Christmas. Speaking of which, do you know when you're flying out yet?? He's so cute, and looks like he might be disco dancing in this picture! hahaha. I love you and am glad that all went well.
